All of these increase the likelihood of cardiovascular disease. Doctors have listed six products that will help to avoid this dangerous condition.
Oatmeal – they are rich in beta-glucan soluble fibers, which lower cholesterol. Just 3 grams of beta-glucan has been shown to reduce LDL cholesterol levels by 5 to 10% and therefore lower the risk of coronary heart disease.
Nuts – (pistachios, walnuts, hazelnuts) contain high levels of plant sterols, so they can reduce the level of “bad” cholesterol. These cholesterol-mimicking compounds, naturally found in plants, can block the absorption of cholesterol into the bloodstream.
Olive oil – Extra virgin olive oil is rich in polyphenols that fight cancer and monounsaturated fats that protect against cardiovascular disease. Scientists in Italy also found that replacing corn oil with extra virgin olive oil can lower LDL levels in healthy people.
Green tea – contains catechins, antioxidant compounds that penetrate the adipose tissue, accelerate the metabolism and release the accumulated fat from the cells. The antioxidants in green tea can also lower LDL (bad) cholesterol and increase HDL (good) cholesterol.
Pomegranate juice – Pomegranates are one of the healthiest fruits for the heart because their unique antioxidants help prevent hardening and narrowing of the arteries that supply blood to the heart.
Red onion – it can lower the level of cholesterol by reducing the synthesis of this compound in the body, as well as by activating the process of transforming cholesterol into bile acids. (www.zdrave.to)
