CFR Cluj prevailed with great emotions, with a goal scored in the last seconds, score 2-1, in the match with Sepsi and climbed to second place in the play-off ranking.

Immediately after the match, Mario Camora revealed that Nelu Varga convinced him to sign Dan Petrescu, and the coach will take over CFR Cluj starting this week.

“Honestly, I haven’t talked to Dan Petrescu lately. All I know is that he has already signed, we hope he will help us, we hope to fight for the title next season, we hope to win the championship” said Mario Camora.

Although, initially, the CFR management and Dan Petrescu would have agreed that the coach would take over the team’s technical bench only in the summer, now, Nelu Varga’s plans would have changed radically. The financier of Transylvania fears that his team may miss the qualification for the next season of the European Cups.

Thus, Dan Petrescu will return to the technical bench of the CFR as early as this spring. The coach’s first match upon returning to Cluj will be on Easter, on May 5, against Rapid.

Dismissed from South Korea, from Jeonbuk, the coach would have signed a contract for three seasons and will take over CFR Cluj starting today.

Dan Petrescu returns for the fourth time to the CFR bench. In the previous mandates at the Transylvanian group, the coach won four titles in the Super League, in 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2022.
