UPDATE The Ministry of Defense announces that on Thursday evening, fragments that appear to come from an aerial device (drone) were identified on an agricultural land in Insula Mare a Brailei.

“The Ministry of National Defense, together with specialized structures within the National Defense System, public order and national security, conducts the investigation of the incident on Friday, March 29, 2024, according to the specific operational procedures,” says a statement from the Ministry of National Defense.

Alexandra Dinu, Digi24 journalist: There are several search teams of the Army that have been sent to this isolated area of the Big Island of Braila. The only clues the military have so far, such as a drone that may have crashed there, have been provided by locals who shot these images of a bright object. It also sounds like a drone. People in the area say that it would have crashed on the territory of our country.

In this situation, the Army went to the place and is looking for the drone or the object that may have fallen in Romania and they will transmit when they arrive at the place where this object fell whether or not it is a drone that comes from the war in Ukraine.

We know that last year there were four such unmanned aircraft that arrived on Romanian territory. One of them was an unmanned aircraft, a Shahed drone that also had explosives. The rest, military authorities say, were surveillance drones.
