The results of the project competition submitted to the Covasna County Council: 82% of applications accepted for financing

The Covasna County Council announces the results of the evaluation of the projects submitted in the project competition for the year 2024. Following the selection process, 447 applications were accepted for financing, representing 82% of the total of 549 applications submitted. These projects will receive grant funding to implement their proposed initiatives in eight different categories.

Although in 2024, 549 projects were submitted, 43 less than last year, the interest in non-refundable funding from the Covasna County Council remained as high, only this year an applicant could submit a maximum of 2 projects for funding, which explains the difference.

“We note that there is still an increase in requests for non-reimbursable funding by the county administration, from various entities that initiate significant programs and events, both in the rural and urban areas, which can only make us happy because , thus, have an obvious contribution to strengthening the community. This year, we allocated 3.2 million lei, of which 2 million lei are for religious institutions, 400 thousand lei for cultural, educational and recreational programs, and 200 thousand lei for sports activities. As in previous years, we give priority to camps, promoting leisure activities for young people. In addition to this, we also increased the youth fund from 150,000 lei to 200,000 lei. In this way, we tried to respond to the growing number of youth organizations requesting financial support” – stated the president of the Covasna County Council, Tamás Sándor.

Among the applications accepted following the evaluation, funding is granted as follows:

· 136 projects (out of 172 submitted) – in the field of recreation;

· 96 projects (out of 118 submitted) – cultural projects;

· 135 projects (out of 165 that were submitted) – initiatives of cult units;

· 44 (out of 49 submitted) – sports projects;

· 36 (out of 45 submitted) – projects for youth.

They cover a diverse range of activities aimed at strengthening the community and promoting local values. Thus, for cultural and leisure projects, priority was given to areas such as folk costume, book publishing, sculpture/statues, camps, equestrian events, excursions and nature protection, reflecting the community’s interest and commitment to the preservation and promotion of local traditions.

The project implementation period is set between April 29 and December 5, 2024, with the beneficiaries having the opportunity to carry out their planned initiatives during this period.

The Covasna County Council congratulates all the organizations and entities involved in the submission and implementation of the projects, which thus contribute to the development and promotion of the cultural and social heritage of our county, and wishes them all success in the implementation of the projects.
