Alin Nica declared, on Wednesday, that “it was a bare-bones execution, which I have no other way to describe, not mine, but Timișoara’s and Timișu’s, because I’m practically denying the right of the liberals to have the chance to run for and run against the left here, in the county Timiș, they basically excluded us from this whole equation, and this is what we blame the central leadership for.”

Nica will run under the banner of another party or as an independent and will make a decision as soon as possible.

“Obviously, we will find a solution so that the interests and desires, aspirations of the right-wing people of Timisoara will continue to be represented, and in the next few days I will make an announcement in this regard concretely. I definitely want to run for the County Council for a new mandate. I believe that we have remarkable achievements in these four years and the people of Timisoara and the people of Timisoara deserve to give a slap to Bucharest through the vote they will cast on June 9, to show them that they were wrong when they made this decision against Timișu and Timișoara”, said Alin Nica on Wednesday.

The former liberal leader admitted that he met with Ludovic Orban, who also left the PNL, who is currently the president of the Forţa Dreptei party.

I met Mr. Ludovic Orbanwe are talking to all those who may be interested in such a project, who want to continue this project in Timiș and give a chance to the right here in Timiș, the real right, to express themselves in the plan of local politics”, said Nica .

He stated that he will also discuss with Dominic Fritz about a possible collaboration for the local elections on June 9.

“There is a need for a coagulation of all those who oppose these dictates from Bucharest and certainly, at the moment, the only exponent of the right in Timiș and Timișoara is this alliance that we can prepare between all those who think liberally and from the right and they want to have a representative in these local elections on June 9”, said Nica.

Nica is still a member of the PNL and claims that the decision to leave the party is difficult after 20 years, but he has nowhere to go because he was excluded by his colleagues.

“I am not angry with the PNL because the PNL represents principles and values in which I still believe. I am a liberal and I will continue to be a liberal, certain attitudes, certain people and certain decisions revolt me, and this does not mean that I lose my beliefs that define me as a human being, but I try to find what else I could do to find the option in which I can continue to materialize the hopes and trust of the citizens, who have the same beliefs as me”, said Alin Nica.

He also said that if he leaves, he does so with the thought that at some point he will return to where his soul is and where he has put his soul for the last 20 years.

“In this conflict, which has existed for a long time with Bucharest, and in which Timișoara has often come out on its knees because of weak leaders, even if I had to go home, I remain satisfied and happy that I did not bow my head to the dictates of in Bucharest and that I said it very frankly yesterday and last week: Timișul and Timișoara are not for sale to the gentlemen from Bucharest“, said Nica.

The politician also stated that he is meeting with the liberal mayors on Wednesday and that some of them will follow him in the new project.

“Obviously all colleagues will not support the candidacy of Mr. Simonis because like me, as I stated yesterday, that I would rather cut off my hand than sign the submission of the candidacy from the PNL side of Mr. Simonis, so will my colleagues, regardless of the decision they will make, they will support a right-wing candidate in their localities”, Alin Nica also specified.

Also on Wednesday, the president of Forţa Dreptei, Ludovic Orban, stated regarding the exclusion from the party of the leader of PNL Timiş, Alin Nica, that “this case in which the president of the CJ Timiş was executed, in order to have Ciolacu’s lieutenant Simonis as a candidate, clearly shows that Ciucă&Co are nothing more than PSD servants“.

“Any liberal voter can clearly understand that if they vote with the PNL, they are actually voting with the PSD,” Ludovic Orban said.

UPDATE. Ciolacu: PSD and PNL will win the CJT and Timișoara City Hall elections

The Prime Minister and national PSD leader Marcel Ciolacu declared, on Wednesday, that PSD and PNL will win the CJT and Timișoara City Hall elections.

“Definitely (asked if Simonis has a chance of winning – no). At this moment, the two big parties in Romania – the Social Democratic Party and the National Liberal Party – have overcome certain conceits and will win. I am firmly convinced that Timișoara will also win. (…) I think the last revolt I caught was the one in 1907 (asked about the “revolt” from PNL Timiș). Since then I haven’t caught any riots.

Joking aside, there are two live games and things are happening. That means parties that have a certain dynamic. There are prides, there are dissatisfactions, but there are political decisions that the leaders take on,” Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu said on Wednesday, from the construction site of the Capital’s ring road.
