After a life full of pleasures, high ropes, luxurious cars and beautiful women, Radu Mazare seems to have come to the conclusion that all these pleasures are like dust and powder, so he became a man in prison.
The former mayor, who led Constanta for 15 years, recently applied for conditional release, after serving two thirds of his sentence. The former mayor of the municipality of Constanta appeared before a commission with the hope that he will convince the management of the penitentiary that he has straightened up.
Mazare says that during the almost five years he spent in prison, he behaved irreproachably and now fits the social values necessary to be a free person again. According to Realitatea TV, he also stated that he discovered God and spends time in reading circles within the penitentiary and does not miss any religious activity.
But despite his efforts, the court refused his request and established that Mazare can submit a new request for conditional release only after nine months.
Mazare has two convictions, one for 8 years and another for 5 years, both for acts of corruption: in one case he was convicted for the illegal return of some land in the resort of Mamaia, and in another for bribery, abuse of office and conflict of interests.
