The National Federation of United Trade Unions of the Local Police Romania, affiliated to the National Trade Union Bloc, announced the organization of a protest on Wednesday, May 8, in front of the Government, between 10.00 and 13.00.

The local police officers are taking to the streets, unhappy that they are not getting a raise for the work they do on weekends and public holidays.

They drew attention to the fact that they are the only budgetary structure in the country that works on weekends and public holidays, but does not receive the 75% increase, as happens for the other categories of personnel in the field of national defense, public order and national security.

Other complaints are related to the application of the working conditions provided by the Local Police Law no. 155/2010, but also granting the values of the mandatory food standards for local police personnel.

The National Federation of United Local Police Unions has already started a public campaign since December 2023, to draw attention to the importance of local policemen in society, entitled “#șinoiexistăm!”.
