Major change at Otopeni Airport! The construction will have a considerable size of 20,000 square meters – Budgetul.ro

On Wednesday, May 8, 2024, Bucharest Airports National Company announced that the order was issued to start construction of a new parking lot at Henri Coandă International Airport Bucharest. The new parking lot will have an area of ​​more than 20,000 square meters.

Good news for all passengers transiting the Henri Coandă International Airport in Bucharest. A huge new parking lot will be built, thus facilitating easier access for cars. The investment aims at extensive works on an area of ​​20,265 square meters, to create a modern parking lot for airport passengers. The announcement was made by Compania Nationala Aeroporturi Bucharest, during the day on Wednesday.

“Bucharest Airports National Company continues the infrastructure modernization process and announces that on Wednesday, May 8, 2024, the order was issued to start the construction of a new parking lot at the Henri Coandă International Airport Bucharest”, CNAB transmitted.

According to the data provided by the Bucharest Airports National Company, last year, 14.6 million passengers and over 111,000 aircraft movements were registered at Henri Coandă International Airport. Under these conditions, the construction of a new modern parking lot is more than welcome.

Otopeni Airport will benefit from a modern parking lot

The execution period is 6 months from the date of commencement of the works. It is planned to create 662 new parking spaces, of which 66 will have the necessary infrastructure for the installation of electric car charging devices. The contract was awarded by the association SSAB AG – Bemel AG – SSAB International Electric and has a value of 14.895 million lei, excluding VAT. At the same time, the Bucharest Airports National Company announced that it has already initiated the steps to build other parking lots. Thus, 1,600 new parking spaces will be provided and the Sosiri multi-storey car park will be modernized and strengthened.

CNAB also wants to make investments of over 120 million euros, as follows:

• systematization of movement surfaces;
• modernization of baggage lane systems Departures;
• modernization/RK boarding decks;
• construction of an AIHCB wastewater and rainwater treatment plant;
• building operations at AIHCB;
• modernization of AIHCB public road lighting;
• capital repairs of the Electric Plant building and the transition to 20 KV electricity supply of AIBB AV;
• Plecări North parking lot, Department West parking lot;
• rehabilitation and reorganization works of external thermal networks and their connection to the thermal power plant CT1 at AIHCB;
• installation of photovoltaic panels at AIHCB, including connection works at the Electric Plant.
