The gendarmes intervened to chase the animals away in 6 cases, because in the rest of the situations the bears were no longer present at the places indicated by the callers, Rador Press Agency announces, quoting Radio Târgu Mureș.

The spokesperson of the Harghita Gendarmerie County Inspectorate, Kosa Ervin, stated that in three localities the operative teams extracted the bears, and in the other three the animals were driven into the forest.

“In the first case, the presence of a bear was reported in the municipality of Miercurea Ciuc, as in the second case, in the village of Turdeni, where a team of gendarmes moved and the bear was driven into the forest; a similar intervention took place in Avrămești commune. In the third case, after four calls recorded from the town of Lueta, another call was received on May 6, indicating the presence of a bear, in which case it was necessary to set up the intervention team to extract the wild animal. In the last two confirmed cases, the presence of bears was reported in Ocna de SUs and Avrămești, and intervention teams were set up to extract the bears,” Kosa Ervin said.

Since the beginning of the year, in Harghita, there were 71 calls to 112 reporting the presence of bears near residential areas.

The gendarmes remind us not to feed wild animals, not to approach bears to film or photograph them and to call 112.
