The Prefecture of Prahova is asking for an investigation in the case of the collapsed street

--

The Prefecture of Prahova demands an investigation in the case of the collapse of the street in the town of Slănic. At the same time, the institution’s officials accuse the lack of cooperation of the County Council, turning the disaster into a political dispute.

The disaster in Slănic Prahova turns into a political dispute, between PSD and PNL. While people are worried about losing their homes and the agony of a lifetime, politicians are looking to score electoral points. Thus, the PSD prefect accuses the leadership of the County Council, PNL, of “hostile attitude”. He notified several institutions demanding investigations into the gas supply works.

The prefecture wants an investigation in Slănic Prahova

The representative of the government in the territory, namely the prefect of Prahova, complains about the “hostile attitude” of the leadership of the County Council (CJ). According to him, the vice president who took over the duties of president, from Iulian Dumitrescu, refused to participate in the meetings related to the disaster. Moreover, he allegedly refused to provide the technical documentation for the gas supply works.

A street in the town of Slănic Prahova collapsed the other day, endangering the safety of the residents of the area. Several homes were damaged and people were evacuated.

The Prefecture of Prahova announces that it has requested several institutions to verify whether the law was respected in the case of the gas supply works in Slănic. The notifications concern CJ Prahova and the company contracted for the execution of the investment.

The Prefecture of Prahova accuses Dumitru Tudone, vice-president of the Prahova County Council who took over the duties of the president. He is accused of not having participated in the meetings where the authorities sought solutions for the restoration of the partially collapsed street.

Reporting to the prefect of Prahova

Prahova Prefecture advertises, in a press release, the “hostile attitude” of the representatives of the Prahova County Council since the beginning of the event. According to the cited source, the institution refused to provide the Prahova County Committee for Emergency Situations with the in-depth geotechnical studies from Slănic Prahova. It is about the documentation on the basis of which the gas supply works were done.

In this context, the prefect of Prahova requests controls from several institutions, namely the State Construction Inspectorate, the County Police Inspectorate, the Court of Accounts, Consumer Protection and the Territorial Labor Inspectorate. The Prefect of the PSD requests the verification of the following aspects:

  • compliance by the beneficiary of the works (Prahova County Council) and the company that took care of the execution of the works, of the conditions and obligations from the urban planning certificate, from the building permit, as well as the legality of the signatures from the town planning authorizations and certificates, in the context where in urban planning matters, these must only belong to the president of the County Council, they cannot be delegated;
  • verifying the legality of the execution contract, the tender award documentation and subsequent additional documents. The contract was supplemented with 5 million euros, with the agreement of the president of the Prahova County Council, Iulian Dumitrescu;
  • compliance with the contractual terms by the executor (despite the notices that the works have been completed, in the town of Slănic, and not only, work is still being done on the establishment of the gas network), including the return of the streets and sidewalks to their original state, informing the population, organizing the construction site and the quality of the works.

Prahova prefecture accuses several irregularities

The representatives of the Prefecture claim that, since the beginning of the works, there have been numerous reports related to these investments. According to the press release, there were several addresses through which the Slănic City Hall requested the County Council and the executor to take measures to plug the ditches on the broken street and not only that.

The Prefecture of Prahova complains about the “unjustified refusal” of the County Council to financially support the town of Slănic. In an ordinary meeting of the Council, on April 30, 2024, the City Hall’s request for help in the emergency situation was ignored.
