Ioan Branga, one of the best-known sheep herders in Romania, passed away at the age of 54. Branga suffered a fatal heart attack, writes agrointel.ro.

Ioan Branga was the president of the Association of Sheep and Goat Breeders “Mioriţa” Chișinău-Criș and together with other sheep breeders, he founded a cheese factory and managed to be among the first sheep to enter the supermarket chains directly.

Branga was born in 1970, being known for defending the rights of sheep breeders in Romania.

In 2007, together with several farmers from Arad, he built the Cris-Sib Lacto cheese business. Making a commitment not to deviate from the traditional production technology, he propelled the cheese of the Sibiians directly onto the shelves of the Mega Image chain of stores, where the sheep telemeau received the “Romanian tastes” stamp.

“The name we use comes from the joining of the two large sheep breeding areas as follows: Cris comes from Criș because we are located in the area of Crișurilor, Sib comes from Sibiu because we are from Sibiu and Lacto from the quality dairies which we do in our factory”, declared Ioan Branga for Agrointelligence.
