Easter egg-beating contests in Verguleasa and Dobroteasa, on the second and third day of Easter

Monday, May 6, and Tuesday, May 7, we are also on holidays, being the second and third day of Easter. And in two localities in the north of Olt county, the tradition is preserved, and this year the two Easter egg-beating contests continue, where not only competitors, children, women and men, but also dozens of curious people are expected to participate.

If the first one will be on Monday, at the Dumitrești Parish in the Verguleasa commune, the other is scheduled to take place on Tuesday at the Câmpu Mare Parish in the Dobroteasa commune.

Both events start at 11:00 a.m. and take place with the support of the town halls of the two communes, of the mentioned parishes, but also of the Olt County Center for Culture and Art, an institution subordinate to the Olt County Council.

“The Easter egg-beating competitions from Dumitrești Parish, Verguleasa commune, and Câmpu Mare Parish, Dobroteasa commune, will be held again this year, according to the local tradition, on the second and third day of Easter respectively, in the organization of the mentioned parishes, coordinated by priests Cristian Mirel Turmacu from the Dumitrești Parish and Emanuel Ciucă from the Câmpu Mare Parish and the Olt County Center for Culture and Art. The contests, which start after 11:00 a.m., after the end of the service, have special meanings for the believers of these parishes and gather in the courtyard of the respective churches, in addition to locals and competitors, dozens of curious people”, said artistic consultant Valeru Ciurea from CJCA Olt.
