Before consecrating the dishes, people took holy light brought from Jerusalem to all the churches and monasteries in the country. At the Metropolitan Cathedral in the center of the capital, the Haric fire was brought from Tel-Aviv by a group of pilgrims from the Metropolitanate of Moldova. The Metropolitanate of Bessarabia brought the holy light to our country by plane from Bucharest, and a solemn procession took place in Airport.

The holy fire arrived at the metropolitan cathedral around 8 p.m., the delegation led by Metropolitan Vladimir, being waited for by the Arc de Triomphe by hundreds of priests and parishioners.

His Holiness Vladimir, METROPOLITAN OF MOLDOVA: “We thank everyone, those who prayed with us, so that this year 2024, the holy, heavenly light will descend in the Church of the Resurrection of the Lord, at the tomb in the holy land.”

The first to receive the light were the priests.

Afterwards, the light was shared and the crowds gathered in front of the cathedral.

“For us it is one of the biggest holidays. I try to come every year, because I come here and I feel really good, like I get chills.”

After the bonfire they came from small to large. David, for example, came with his whole family.

“-Why is it important?
-For us to be alive, if he doesn’t come in a year, it’s the end of the world.
-What did you like the most?
– The fiery fire.”

Valentina told us that she comes every year to take the holy light.

“First of all let’s receive it in the soul, then in the house and celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ, that’s why we came. I came up with the idea that this year there should be peace, in all nations, with our neighbors. Let this light at least bring peace between neighbors.”

This woman, however, told us that for many years she has not had the opportunity to come after the bonfire because she works abroad.

“This year we had this opportunity to arrive. It was very nice, like home.”

And Elena came from Holland, where she has been settled for several years, to celebrate Easter at home.

“It is our tradition, with my girlfriend, to come here every year. Last year I couldn’t, but this year I came especially.”

This year the Haric fire from Jerusalem was brought to Chisinau by a group of pilgrims from the Metropolitanate of Moldova. And the Metropolis of Bessarabia brought the holy light to our country. For the first time, the Romanian Patriarchate decided to bring the fire to Chisinau by plane, in a solemn procession to the Airport, where it was awaited by Metropolitan Petru. The aircraft landed around 8 p.m. Later, the holy light was brought to the Metropolitan Chapel “Saint John the Theologian” in the capital, and from there it was distributed to the churches subordinate to the Metropolis of Bessarabia.
