The Easter 2024 schedule has been announced by the big stores, and supermarkets and hypermarkets have adjusted their opening hours over the Easter holidays. Most will be closed on Sunday, May 5 and Monday, May 6, but there are a few exceptions.

Orthodox Easter 2024, the holiday commemorating the Resurrection of Jesus Christ, considered the Son of God in Christian religions, on the third day after His crucifixion on Good Friday, falls on Sunday, May 5. This year, Romanians will have a six-day mini-holiday, between May 1, on Labor Day, and the day after Easter, on May 6.

The 2024 Easter mini-holiday lasts 6 days

Orthodox Easter is a holiday with a variable date, not a fixed date, and from year to year the day on which it falls varies by about two weeks. This year, Orthodox Easter falls on May 5, the same week as May 1, a public holiday. Thus, the Government has decided that the budget officers will also have a day off on May 2, in order to make up for the Orthodox Easter. In total, Romanians will enjoy six days off in the first mini-holiday this year, starting May 1, on Labor Day, until May 6, when the day after Easter is celebrated.

Kaufland store schedule for Easter 2024

On Sunday, May 5, Kaufland hypermarkets will be closed, except for the locations in Sfântu Gheorghe, Gheorgheni, Miercurea Ciuc, Odorheiul Secuiesc, Sovata and Târgu Secuiesc.

On Monday, May 6, stores will have short opening hours starting at 9:00 a.m., with closing times ranging from 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The exceptions are the locations in the previously mentioned cities, which will operate according to normal hours. Also, the store in the premises of Promenada Mall Sibiu will be open between 10:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m.

Lidl store schedule for Easter 2024

Lidl stores will be closed on May 5 and 6.

They will reopen from Tuesday, May 7, and will operate according to the normal schedule, 07.00-22.00.

Carrefour Easter 2024 store schedule

On Sunday, May 5, 2024, all Carrefour stores will be closed. From May 6, stores will reopen and return to normal hours.

Carrefour Express stores will only be closed on May 5, Sunday, after which they will reopen on Monday, May 6, between 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m.

Auchan store schedule for Easter 2024

On Sunday, May 5, all Auchan stores will be closed. They will reopen on Monday, May 6, starting at 10:00 a.m.

Mega Image store schedule for Easter 2024

On Sunday, May 5, Mega Image stores will be closed. On Monday, May 6, the schedule will be short, and stores will operate after 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. As of Tuesday, May 7, Mega Image store hours are back to normal.

Easter Penny Stores Schedule 2024

Penny stores will be closed on Sunday, May 5, and on Monday, May 6, they will be open for special hours from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. From Tuesday, Penny stores will operate after 7am to 10pm.
