Exhibits of the Romanian Pavilion at the Venice Architecture Biennale 2023, one of the most prestigious international cultural events dedicated to artistic manifestations in the fields of visual arts, architecture, music, theater, dance, cinematography, can be seen in Iulius Mall Cluj.

The “NOW-HERE-THERE” pavilion brings together projects that present different architectural and design practices.

Until May 15, 2024, the people of Cluj are expected to explore the innovative creations of talented Romanians, who have changed paradigms over the years. In the Iulius Mall Atrium the world’s first aerodynamic car with wheels in the body, built by Aurel Persu in the 1920s, is on display. The car was among the first aerodynamic cars, having the shape of a drop of water.

Also in the Pavilion is exhibited the car built by hand Justin Goat, in the 80s, by recycling older automobiles and airplane parts. The car is electric, a predecessor of the current models. Car lovers can also see an electric truck modelmanufactured in 1910, which belonged to the Romanian engineer Dimitrie Leonida – and which, like the other two cars, are part of National Technical Museum “Prof. Eng. Dimitrie Leonida”.

Among the examples of projects that innovate and make their mark in the context of today’s architecture is also the international architecture competition organized last year by the IULIUS company – An Iași for the future – and the resulting solution – “Bridging Time, Bridging Communities” – signed by the prestigious Dutch architecture office UNStudio. In the competition, the IULIUS company brought together four of the largest architecture offices in the world – Foster+Partners, MVRDV, UNStudio and Zaha Hadid Architects – who proposed an urban solution for a new development in the central area of Iași.
