ANPC: “Avoid buying meat from the trunk”. What to take care of when choosing the food for the Easter meal

The director of the National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC), Paul Anghel, posted on Facebook several rules for consumers regarding the products bought on Easter. He tells how to check if eggs or meat for the Easter meal are safe for consumption.

The ANPC also advises us to be careful where we buy food for Easter, warning about the dangers we can expose ourselves to if we don’t choose the meat, eggs and even paint for them correctly.

Thus, the purchase of meat, including lamb, and meat products must be made only from specially designed, equipped and authorized places (butchers, grocery stores, specially designed places in markets) and must have the sanitary control stamp- vet. Only in this way is there a guarantee of a safe product that will not harm health.

So, avoid buying meat from people and unauthorized places, from “car trunks”, even if the price offered is lower. The merchant in question is not able to ensure optimal transport, storage and marketing conditions and cannot issue you a receipt to justify the commercial transaction, and you risk purchasing a non-compliant or even unsafe product that may affect your health.

Check, by direct assessment, the organoleptic properties of the products, the organoleptic signs of spoilage, changes in appearance (scribbled appearance, with the presence of mucilage), color (changed color), consistency, presence of foreign bodies. (Read the rest of the article here…)
