Dragoș Militaru’s team has a chance of saving themselves from relegation, but they also need the help of those from Ceahlăul in the next stage. Unirea Dej obtained, on Friday, in Piatra Neamț, the point it needed to take the fight to avoid relegation to the last stage.

Transylvania drew at Ceahlău, score 1-1 (1-1), in the 6th stage of the League 2 play-out, a result which, combined with the failure of Dumbrăvița in Mioveni (0-1 with CFC Argeș), maintains open battle for relegation.

To save themselves from relegation, Unirea Dej must beat CSM Alexandria in the last stage, at home, and CSC Dumbrăvița must lose at home to Ceahlăul. And Dragoș Militaru is confident that the Germans can impose themselves in Banat, although the Moldovans have not won any match “away” in the play-out.

“We wanted three points, but taking into account that we met a very good team at home, one of the best at home this season, with only two defeats, I am satisfied that we keep fighting until the last match. With one point, with three, we still have to fight to win the last game, so I’m happy. And I think that in the last match today’s home team, as I also know the coach, Mr. Pustai, I am sure that they will do their job in the most professional way in Dumbrăvița, as it happened today”, declared Dragoș Militaru.

The coach of Unirii Dej emphasized that his students played all the play-out matches under huge pressure, any match lost or even ended in a draw basically meant relegation. Militaru also explained why Unirea Dej did not start the streak of positive results earlier in the regular season. With him back as coach, Unirea played the last four matches of 2023, all lost.
