With the blessing of the Most Reverend Father Casian, the Archbishop of Lower Danube, in the Brăila Archdiocese and in all the churches in the municipality and the county, one of the biggest philanthropic actions of the year took place these days: the diocesan program “We are renewed by Holy Easter”, on the occasion of the great Feast of the Resurrection of the Lord.

“Every year, around the great Christian holidays, in the Archdiocese of the Lower Danube, extensive pastoral-missionary and social-philanthropic programs are held, mainly aimed at the elderly, the sick, families with many children or needy and socially marginalized people”the father told us Rares Bucurthe spokesperson of the Lower Danube Diocese.

In this context, between April 25 and May 2, 2024, no less than 4,300 elderly people and 2,300 children – in total, 6,600 people from Brăila and Galați! – who come from more than 500 needy families with more than three children, received, from the Church, on the Holy Feast of the Resurrection, food, clothing and footwear worth a total of 500,000 lei. The Diocesan Center contributed 60% of the aid value, and the dioceses and parishes contributed 20% each.

Since April 25, the children from Brăila municipality, found in the parish records, have enjoyed the gifts prepared by the priests and volunteers. According to Fr. Rareș Bucur, in one day, clothing, shoes and other Easter gifts were offered to a number of 400 needy children, found in the parish records of the Brăila Diocese.

The gifts bought by the priests were first brought to the “Holy Apostles Peter and Paul” Church, in the vicinity of the Protoieria Brăila, where they were arranged by age category and then given, with love, to the children. At the same time, the elderly, sick and those with reduced material means also received gifts from the Braile parishes, through priests and parish volunteers.

“All the beneficiaries of this humanitarian campaign received the gifts with great joy, thanking, first of all, the Most Reverend Father Casian, the initiator and supporter of this traditional diocesan program, as well as the other clergy and volunteers involved in the charity actions”said Fr. Rarely happy.
