Many Romanians can receive money from the state, but they do not know this, which is why they do not apply. And the amounts are not small at all. They can even reach up to 3,000 lei.

Lately, the governing coalition has granted various benefits to Romanians, through which they want to help them, especially those in vulnerable situations, to lead a better life.

Food cards, energy cards or food packages are just a few examples of aid granted by the Romanian state to vulnerable citizens.

This time it is not only about people who lead a hard life, but about Romanians, from different localities, whose town halls have decided to offer a prize for couples who have reached a certain age since marriage.

So, couples living especially in big cities can receive diplomas and cash prizes if they have been married for many years. In most cases, these awards are given to those who complete 50 years of marriage, but there are also exceptions that provide money for both 25 and 75 years of marriage.

In 1993, the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted a resolution by which May 15 is declared “International Day of Families”. A year later, the Government of Romania decides to mark this international event by celebrating, in the middle of May, “Family Day in Romania”.

In this context, several of the town halls in our country have decided to mark this event, including by awarding diplomas and cash prizes to couples who celebrate many years of cohabitation, writes avocatnet.ro.

For example, 500 lei and a diploma marking this event are awarded to Iași families who have completed 50 years of marriage. On the other hand, also for the 50th anniversary of marriage, in Oradea and Cluj-Napoca, the prize in money that is awarded has the value of 1,000 lei.

In the Capital, on the other hand, families who complete 25, 50 or 75 years of marriage can receive a diploma, but also prizes, like this. The award for 25 years of marriage is 1,000 lei, for 50 years of marriage – 1,500 lei, and for 75 years of marriage – 3,000 lei.

Romanians who want to apply for the award for a long marriage must be domiciled in the respective locality (in some cases, only one of the spouses must live there) and be able to prove the period spent together by means of a marriage certificate.
