Gymnastics / Romania finished 8th at the European Championships in Rimini

The Romanian junior team took 8th place on Friday at the European Women’s Artistic Gymnastics Championships in Rimini (Italy).

Romania (Anamaria Mihăescu, Alexia Blănaru, Neli Papana, Ariana Cotu and Adelina Ionescu) totaled 142,063 points. The gold medals were won by France (155.763), Italy got the silver (153.527), and the bronze went to Belgium (148.662).

In the individual composite, the best ranking among the Romanians was achieved by Anamaria Mihăescu, who had the 18th score), ranking 14th (47.966 points).

Anamaria Mihăescu qualified for the vault finals, with the ninth average of 12.750 (jumps of 12.800 and 12.700, respectively), considering that there were three Italians in front of her. Alexia Blănaru is the third reserve, with 12.699 (12th place in qualifications), while Adelina Ionescu was 14th (12.566).

On beam, Anamaria Mihăescu and Alexia Blănaru took the final with the tenth mark, 12.400. Evelina Papană was 29th in the qualifiers (11.766) and Adelina Ionescu finished 103rd (9.500).

In parallel qualifications, Anamaria Mihăescu ranked 39th (10.700), Ariana Cotu finished 43rd (10.500), Adelina Ionescu was 76th (9.533), and Evelina Papană finished 98th (8.366).

Alexia Blănaru is the second floor reserve (12.166), Anamaria Mihăescu finished 17th (12.066), Evelina Papană 41st (11.733), and Adelina Ionescu 89th (10.733).

The apparatus finals will take place on Sunday.
