The village of Ghermănești in the Snagov commune of Ilfov became the first town in Romania where an intelligent speed limiter was installed. The system has sensors that identify the speed from a distance and let only those who respect the speed limit pass, reports TVR Info.
The area where the device was installed is near the school in the center of the town, where the speed limit is 30 kilometers per hour. Although many children and parents cross the zebra crossing on their way to school, some drivers step on the accelerator without taking into account the restriction.
The sensor limiter now allows only drivers who respect the legal speed to pass. A sign will be installed 160 meters before the threshold that should make drivers slow down. He announces that he is following a smart system.
“It is not a purchased model, it is a prototype that is implemented in Romania for the first time in Snagov commune. We came to the conclusion that it is necessary to install such a smart bumper here, in the school area”, said Mihai Anghel, the mayor of Snagov commune.
According to Felix Horațiu Șerb, the director of the company that brought the technology to Romania, the system consists of some warning panels, sensors and a reducing threshold. The moment the sensors detect that the drivers respect the speed, the reduction threshold that is high, goes down.
The innovative system was used for the first time in Mexico, and technicians from this country came to ensure that the device installed in the commune of Ilfov will work.
