The German Leoni group, one of the largest manufacturers of wiring systems and components for the automotive industry that also owns a factory in Pitesti, is facing a real crisis.

About 200 employees will be affected by this closure.

The decision to close the factory in Luduș comes after a drastic drop in orders, writes profit.ro.

The problem is also given by the challenges facing the automotive industry.

These mainly consist of the transition to hybrid and electric vehicles and the reduction of subsidies for them, which has affected the demand for auto components.

The communication representative of Leoni Romania, Andrei Rusu, emphasizes the impact of these factors on the car manufacturing market and the need to adapt to market requirements.

How employees will be affected

The employees of the factory in Luduș were faced with a difficult decision.

The options are transfer to the factory in Arad or resignation.

This situation has caused dissatisfaction and protests from employees, who demand respect for their social rights.

In response, the company offered assurances that no resignations were being sought.

It also proposed facilities such as a relocation bonus, free accommodation and transport.

In addition to the relocation bonus, the company has planned a temporary secondment of employees to the factory in Arad.

Later, they will be transferred to the factory in Bistrita, once the conditions allow.

In this regard, the management of the group initiated discussions with the trade union organization to analyze each case individually.

Despite the closure of the factory in Luduș, Leoni continues to invest and expand in Romania.

The company recently opened its tenth factory in the country, investing more than 17.5 million euros in a new facility for the production of automotive wiring, creating up to 1,200 new jobs.

Leoni has a strong regional reach, with 10 factories in six counties – Arad, Argeș, Bihor, Bistrița-Năsăud, Gorj and Mureș – with a production space of 180,000 square meters, the quoted source also notes.
