Of the 11 applicants for the position of mayor of Galati municipality, who submitted their candidacy proposals to the Electoral Office of Municipal Circumscription no. 1, only ten were accepted, one being rejected. And from the 17 lists of candidates and, respectively, independent candidacies for the City Council, two were rejected. However, the situation is not final. Rejected candidates have the right to appeal in court, within 48 hours of posting the rejection decision.

For each candidate for the position of mayor and each list of candidates for the Local Council, in the elections of June 9 in the municipality of Galati, political parties, political alliances, electoral alliances and organizations of citizens belonging to national minorities were required to present a list of supporters with a number minimum of 2,590 voters. As well as independent candidates, they have to prove the support of a minimum number of 2,590 voters.

These lists were carefully checked by the members of the Electoral Bureau of Municipal Circumstance no. 1. And the major irregularities discovered in the lists of supporters led to the rejection of some candidature proposals. Three decisions rejecting candidacy proposals were posted at the headquarters of the Municipal Electoral Office. Specifically, the candidacy proposal submitted by the independent Mihai Dermengi for the position of mayor of Galati municipality was rejected. He can challenge the decision in court.

At this moment, the candidacies for the position of mayor of Galati municipality submitted by: Stănică Ambrinoc (Pro Romania); Onuţ Valeriu Atanasiu (National Liberal Party); Doru Valentin Căstăian (PACT for Galaţi); Bogdan Dobrescu (SOS Romania); Eugen Durbacă (Democratic Conservative Party); Ionuţ Pucheanu (Social Democratic Party); Picu Apostol Roman (Social Liberal Humanist Party); Daniela Ancuța Şarpe (United Right Alliance); Marcelina Tăune (Romanian Socialist Political Alliance); Daniela Simona Vreme (Alliance for the Union of Romanians).

Also, due to incomplete or erroneous lists of supporters, the lists of candidacy proposals formulated by the Romanian National Conservative Party and the Romanian Environmentalist Party, for the positions of local councilors, were also rejected. And these two political formations have the right to appeal in court.

According to our data, for the Galati Local Council, the lists proposed by 13 parties or alliances were accepted – PSD, PNL, ADU, PACT for Galati, AUR, PUSL, SOS Romania, Pro Romania, PCD, Political Alliance Romania Socialist, PRM, Patriot Party and the National Peasant Alliance, but also two independent candidates – Raabis-Ştefan Bădiţă and Mihai Dermengi.

We will be able to have a clear situation of the candidacies only on May 8, when they will remain definitive. Until then, changes are still possible.
