The United Right accuses the BEC of committing an abuse against the Diaspora. The decision was challenged in court

The Central Electoral Bureau decided on April 30, 2024, at the request and with the vote of the PSD, that the United Right alliance (USR, PMP, Forţa Dreptei) can have only one representative in the Electoral Bureau for Foreign Voting Sections (BESVS), according to a press release USR.

USR claims that it is a “new abuse of the Central Electoral Bureau”, being the only constituency where the law is applied as PSD wants, unlike the counties in the country, where each party in the alliance has a separate representative. PMP contested the decision in court, reports Agerpres.

“On April 30, the BEC, at PSD’s request, imposed different standards in the polling station offices abroad and in the country. We asked the court to annul this decision and impose a uniform practice. The current elections should have been conducted in a fair, transparent and interference-free manner. However, the current government prepared the entire electoral process with the main aim of hitting the opposition, the United Right and, especially, the PMP. Basically, the left wants to control the entire electoral process, and we want to have only one representative. We must all be vigilant to prevent a fraud that they are preparing for June 9. The United Right was removed from the ballots at PSD’s request. Also at PSD’s request, the United Right failed in the voting stations abroad. I say with all responsibility that this ordinance for the organization of the elections, the Greblă Ordinance – because he is the author – had only one objective: the elimination of the PMP from organizing the electoral process”, declared the president of the PMP, Eugen Tomac.

“We have a Romania beyond Romania’s borders, and Romanians from the Diaspora are as Romanian as those from any county in Romania.
