Candidates for the local elections had a deadline of April 30, 2024 to submit their candidacy files for the position of mayor or local councilor.
On May 8, the candidacies for the local elections remain definitive, and on May 10, the electoral campaign officially begins, which will end a month later, on June 8, at 7:00 a.m. On June 9, the polling stations will open at 07:00 and close at 22:00.
9 candidates will fight in Bacau Municipality for the seat of mayor:
Valentin Ivancea – the candidate of the PSD-PNL alliance, current president of the Bacau CJ, is running for the Bacau City Hall for the first time. Ivancea has with him the deputy mayors proposed by the alliance – former prefect Lucian Bogdanel (PSD) and Violeta Hazaparu (PNL) (list of local councilors)
Dear Stefan – candidate from AUR, former vice-mayor and current local councilor PMP will run from the Alliance for the Union of Romanians party (list of local councillors)
Lucian Viziteu – current mayor of Bacau Municipality and former USR deputy, he wants a new term as mayor. Viziteu is running on behalf of the Dreapta Unita alliance formed by USR-PMP and Forta Dreptei. (list of local councilors)
Christian Ginghes – will run this year from the SENS party. Ghinghes is the vice-mayor of Bacau, winning the elections together with the mayor Viziteu, from the USR-PNL-Plus alliance (list of local councilors)
Dorin Chirilescu – the independent local councilor will follow the same line and will run for both the position of mayor and that of independent local councillor.
Cristi Manolache – local councilor of several mandates in the Municipality of Bacau, Manolache will run this year from the PER party (list of local councilors)
Braila Stefan – a doctor, he will run for the SOS Romania party both for the post of mayor and on the list of local councilors. (list of local councillors)
Sergiu Sechelariu – he ran several times for Bacau City Hall, but each time without success. This year he chose to run for the Green Party. (list of local councilors)
Adrian Host – theater manager, Gazdaru will run independently for the position of mayor of Bacau Municipality
Clara Luncanu – lawyer, will run for the position of independent local councilor
PUSL – Romeo Stavarache was rejected 3 times by judges, and he tried to replace his candidacy with another candidate – Bogdan Duta. Even Duta did not receive the approval of the Electoral Office to run for mayor, as he did not have the required number of signatures. The list of councilors for the elections was approved.
Cristian Ichim – Deputy for Bacau from the PLUS side, Ichim registered to run for the position of mayor but also for local councilor. The Electoral Office rejected both his candidacies because of the signatures. He can appeal the decision.
