The city hall has put out to tender the design, the development of the documentation for obtaining the necessary approvals and the technical assistance services for the development of the Sub Arini Park in the municipality of Sibiu.

The largest park of the municipality of Sibiu – Sub Arini – is one of the oldest public parks in Romania. It was established in 1857 by the municipality on the site of a former oak forest. The layout project was drawn up at that time by the engineer Wolfgang Seifried who coordinated the work of organizing this new green area. The park initially had only two main alleys and it started from the end of Úscoala de Notot street and ended at the “Digul cu Pini” near Bolta Rece. Later, expansion works were started towards the Dumbrava Forest, currently reaching an area of 22 hectares. Now a new expansion of the area of green spaces is needed, as well as the revitalization of the existing ones, which is why Sub Arini Park will enter a modernization process.

“The need to rehabilitate and modernize the Sub Arini Park derives from the need to spend free time and recreation, contributing to the increase in the degree of civilization and beautification of the city, in order to approach European standards, with direct beneficial implications in ensuring a healthy climate of coexistence in within the local community and with a positive impact on the increase in the degree of socialization of the city’s inhabitants and not only”, it is stated in the specifications for “Design services phase PT + DE + DATC + project verification + elaboration of documentation for obtaining approvals phase PT + technical assistance” for the development of Sub Arini Park.

The awarding of the design services contract takes into account the creation of the technical documentation necessary to obtain the approvals and agreements required by the urban planning certificate, to obtain the building permit, to authorize the execution of the organization of the works and the execution of the technical project. The firm that will be contracted will have to propose the concept within 20 days from the date of signing the contract and prepare the technical project, DTAC, DTOE and obtain the necessary approvals within 3 months from the date of signing the contract. The modernization of Sub Arini Park will involve the implementation of new approaches aimed at emphasizing the historically valuable elements of the park, as well as adding a landscape heritage value to the city map. The existing bicycle lanes will be abolished, and a “shared space” type alley will be created, that is, a common space for cyclists and pedestrians. The dirt paths, made over time by people, will be leveled and transformed into thematic paths, the existing music pavilion will be rehabilitated, the fountains in the area of the Mihai Eminescu statue will be replaced with a pedestrian fountain, a pond will be created with pontoon, a relaxation area will appear, and the playground from the stadium will be expanded.
