Irinel Ionel Scriosteanu, about the Sibiu-Pitesti Highway: Physical progress has passed 67 percent on Section 5

The Secretary of State in the Ministry of Transport Irinel Ionel Scriosteanu announced, on Wednesday, that the physical progress of the 32 kilometers of highway between Sibiu and Pitesti is over 67 percent and that by the end of the year it would be possible to drive in the area.

“We took all 32 km of the construction site of the Sibiu-Pitesti Highway, Section 5, and the physical progress has exceeded 67%, being an encouraging progress we can say that we maintain our intention to put this lot into traffic until the end of this year , before the contractual term”, wrote Irinel Ionel Scriosteanu on the Facebook page on Wednesday.

According to the Secretary of State, the ongoing works are the following:

– fillings, where 3,904,500 m3 were made, representing 99.44% of the total volume;

– road superstructure with ballast stabilized with cement (progress 77.19%);

– asphalt laying, AB31.5 base layer, where the overall progress is 72.61% (record on 04.29.2024 – 785 meters of AB 31.5 on a single track);

– installation of cases (progress 65.77%);

– execution of the intelligent transport system (ITS);

– execution of the longitudinal drainage (progress 50.00%);

– the creation of the public lighting system, including the installation of the lighting fixtures has begun;

According to the Secretary of State, at the Curtea de Argeş road junction, work is being done on the embankments on access ramps 1,2,3 and 4 (progress 59.00%), form layer (progress 27.00%) and ballast foundation (progress 11.00%) and the boxed platforms PC47 (km 1+300) and PC48 (km 2+432) located on shoulder 1 are completed.

At the Băiculeştim road junction, the asphalting of the AB 31.5 base layer was completed on shoulders 1, 2, 3, 4, and at the Bascov road junction, work is being done on the concrete console of the supporting walls and the earth filling, the assembly of the prefabricated beams has been completed ( 30 pcs.) and the concrete slab for the extension of the existing bridge over the canal on DN 7, the concrete slab for the bridge over the canal at km 121+560 has been completed and work is underway on the PC54 box bridge, the foundation having already been completed.

Scriosteanu also states that the personnel mobilized in the construction site reached approximately 1052 people and 250 machines.
