In the case of the Easter and May 1 mini-vacation, the Suceava Border Police announced the special measures taken to ensure order and public safety in the area. During the period May 1-7, Sucevan border policemen will be active every day, collaborating closely with other structures of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
The main activities carried out are aimed at surveillance and control both at the official crossing points and at the green border, with the aim of preventing and combating cross-border criminality. Currently, waiting times at the Siret Border Crossing Point vary between 30 and 120 minutes, depending on the direction of traffic.
In order to ensure efficient and operative control, it was decided to increase the number of border policemen, and where necessary, mobile stations will be used to carry out border control.
It is important to note that the border with Ukraine represents the external border of the European Union, implying the participation of other authorities in border control, to check the transit of goods. The Romanian authorities continue to maintain close contact with their Ukrainian counterparts in order to manage the processing of the trucks as efficiently as possible.
Finally, Romanian and foreign citizens intending to cross the national border are recommended to use all border points open to international traffic and consult the Online Traffic application available on the institution’s website, to check the waiting times at the crossing points.
The aim of these measures is to offer citizens holidays in peace and safety throughout their journey.
