Camping with a caravan has become an activity increasingly sought after by Romanians, and the field is developing in several areas of the country. It is the solution for an unforgettable vacation in nature, in the mountains or at the sea, and the prices are affordable.

Romania is among the cheapest countries to go camping, with an average price per night of only 17.23 euros. The price has increased slightly compared to previous years. In 2022, a Romanian paid 15.42 euros per night, while last year the price was 15.63 euros per night, according to camping.info centralized data.

The prices for one night of camping in a caravan park are not very high, neither here nor in other European countries. Of course, needs may differ from person to person, but the experience can be unique every time.

Romania has over 100 campsites approved by the Ministry of Tourism

Most of the designated sites are found in Sweden and Denmark, but tourists can find enough campsites in countries such as Austria, Belgium or even Portugal. And buying a caravan doesn’t have to be a chore if you get it second hand.

“When I bought it until the pandemic, I gave 6,000 euros. You get the money invested over time,” says a caravan owner.

In Romania, there are more than 100 campsites approved by the Ministry of Tourism, with various degrees of classification, from those that must have the minimum required in the operating permit, i.e. toilets, to those that have all the facilities – bathrooms with hot water showers, electricity, running water, refrigerators, a special place for grilling, dishwashers and washing machines, and which are similar to western campsites.

“It’s a real holiday house, a house on wheels,” the man says

In Romania there are people with at least medium incomes who practice caravan tourism and often with higher education. And they want something else from a trip, i.e. peace, nature and a different type of socializing than in resorts.
