The ghetto on Calea Dezmirului in Cluj-Napoca is a painful reality of the “5-star city”. For years, people have been living in this area in poor conditions. The Roma community in the ghetto is mostly composed of poor families, living in houses without water, electricity or sewage, in small, often overcrowded and unsanitary rooms.

The people of Cluj drive with fear on Dezmirului Street and have been asking the City Hall to find solutions for years, but without results. The administration shrugs, at the moment there are not many other solutions than social housing, and they are being built much too slowly.

The complaints of the people of Cluj are about the fact that there is an indescribable mess in the area, while a few steps away, luxurious villas have been built in the “new Dezmir”.

“I want to ask you what is the legal framework by which hundreds of people live in cardboard huts in this area? Who pays their electricity? Do they have contracts with Electrica? Maximum filth at all hours of the day and night on the sidewalks, infected, indescribable.

Please explain what the situation is there, why nothing is being done to make that 5 star city infection outbreak go away?”, advertises a Cluj resident.
