The fragility of a majority lost by the current administration of the Timișoara town hall was seen on Tuesday at the extraordinary plenary session held online. One of the projects submitted with (extreme) urgency to the supplementary list failed miserably, because no one raised their hand to vote for it. The “Raul Ambruș effect” was fully seen!

With a Raul Ambruș fleeing into the arms of the social-democratic competition, the second after the defection with the vote, from the liberals to the USR, doubled by the similar departure of Andrei Meșter to REPER, they offered the opposition in the local council the chance to block one of the projects forced by the Fritz administration, put to the vote (almost) incognito, a few minutes before the actual vote. The councilors from the opposing camp did not accept two of the projects on the supplementary table at all, but for the other two they accepted at the limit.

20 minutes was the time for the local councilors to show that they are supermen and manage to push the project since they received it. Opinion leader on combating this way of working was Roxana Iliescu.

“Why is it done this way? We do not have the opportunity to read the documents that are put to our vote. It is a total lack of respect, the projects are sent to us in contempt”, said Iliescu when the list of additions was presented.

Dan Diaconu discussed the same topic, pointing out the incorrect way in which the Fritz administration is proceeding.

“We were put, twice now, in the situation to vote on projects that we didn’t even see, being published after the vote. Now, time is insufficient to consult these projects. It’s kind of the same kind of approach in CL from the last few months, but I don’t think it’s productive for anyone, even if it’s an election campaign. I will not vote for any of these projects”according to Deaconu.

Fritz countered, saying that the bills added to the agenda are legal.

“The additional agenda is a very legitimate tool, these projects have some urgency. There are some rectifications of CFs, the tram loop is waiting for people to be completed, and so is the other project. In administrative life there are sometimes things that need to be moved and I thank you for contributing to that movement, although I understand that these are complicated times”the mayor tried to justify the situation.

A list of additions is legal, but there are legal provisions in which the respective projects are brought to a vote.

“You are breaking the law by acting in this manner, you are violating the Administrative Code, which stipulates certain terms. It’s not the first time I’ve said this, you send us the projects in such a way that we can’t take note of their content”Roxana Iliescu fought.

Two projects, the first on the list, by far, failed miserably because there were not enough hands from the USR to approve them. The first one proposed the tabulation of the town hall on several streets in Timișoara, which were not in the town hall’s documents, and the second one gave the Termal beach to Horticultura, without an auction, to manage the beach.

Vice-mayor Ruben Lațcau was so disappointed by the situation that he asked for the closing of the plenary session, because the rest of the projects will not be approved. It didn’t happen that way and the remaining projects passed the limit. They were related to the realization of the return loop for tram 5.

Until the end of the current “local” legislature, life will not be easy at all for the current administration, it will have to work with extremely great administrative finesse, in a real trinket shop.
