PSD Prahova insists on maintaining that the submission of Iulian Dumitrescu’s candidacy for a new mandate for the position of president of the Prahova County Council was done in violation of the law. Initially, PSD Prahova contested, at the Prahova Court, the decision of the County Electoral Bureau to admit the candidacy of Iulian Dumitrescu to the position of president of the Prahova County Council, but as this court rejected the appeal, PSD addressed the Ploiesti Court of Appeal.

According to PSD Prahova, “Decision no. 42/26.04.2024 of the Electoral Bureau of County Circumscription no. 31 Prahova was adopted in violation of the statutory provisions of the National Liberal Party, Iulian Dumitrescu’s candidacy being submitted without a preliminary analysis and without a validation from the National Political Bureau of the PNL. Not even Nicolae Ciucă supports him, moreover, in several TV appearances, Dumitrescu has resigned from all positions held in the National Liberal Party and that his candidacy has not been validated. Also, the judgment of the BEJ Prahova, previously mentioned, was adopted in violation of the legal provisions, considering that Iulian Dumitrescu is under the preventive measure of judicial control, instituted by the prosecutors of the National Anticorruption Directorate. A candidacy for the leadership of the Prahova County Council cannot be legal in the situation of a person criminally investigated for bribery and false statements, it being known that Iulian Dumitrescu is prohibited from occupying the position of president of the County Council. Thus, the candidacy becomes formal and devoid of content, the person nominated by PNL Prahova being unable to exercise his position. The Prahova Court, the court of first instance, rejected the appeal, the decision being appealed to the Ploiești Court of Appeal. PSD Prahova expresses its hope that the magistrates of the Ploiești Court of Appeal will decide, taking into account the considerations presented in the appeal, to admit the appeal and annul the decision regarding the admission of Iulian Dumitrescu’s candidacy for the position of president of the Prahova County Council”.
