The teams of the National Environmental Guard continue the actions against fish poaching, in the context in which the fishing prohibition period began. 40 commissioners from the National Environmental Guard, supported by 280 police officers from the Romanian Police – Road and Public Order Directorate from Constanța and Tulcea counties, started, between April 22 and 27, an extensive inspection and control action. The action was carried out both on water and on land, to prevent and combat fish poaching activities on the Danube River, the Danube Delta Biosphere Reserve and the Black Sea.
The mixed teams assigned to actions on land checked, in only 7 days, 1256 motor vehicles and vans, finding non-conformities regarding the transport of fish. 4 vehicles transporting fish of the species: mackerel, catfish, bream and crucian carp, without legal documents of provenance, were confiscated, as well as a total amount of 250 kg of fish that was handed over to the centers of the first sale, following that the money resulting from sale to be allocated to the state budget. For the 4 vehicles that were transporting fish without legal documents, criminal reports will be submitted.
The checks carried out on the water, with GNM-equipped boats, included Borcea Brat, Chilia, Sulina, Sf Gheorghe, on the Danube section between Feteşti, Hârşova, Cernavodă, Brăila, Galati, Cotul Pisicii and Isaccea, including the Lake Complex formed by the Razelm lakes , Sinoe, Golovita and Smeica. At the same time, the checks carried out both during the day and at night led to the identification of a number of 524 prohibited fishing tools during this period. It is about 150 pieces of netting, 350 pieces of monofilament net/net net totaling 14,000 meters, 24 pieces of netting and nets. All were seized for confiscation.
Any act of a criminal nature will be judged in the criminal sphere by the commissioners of the National Environmental Guard. Actions are ongoing and will continue.
