The parking lot and access roads from the new Craiova Airport terminal are being paved!

Another step towards the completion of the mega project of modernization and expansion of the Craiova International Airport, worth 115 million euros: the parking lot and access roads from the new passenger terminal are paved.

According to the president of the Dolj County Council, Cosmin Vasile, on the construction site of the project to expand and modernize the airport, work is being done continuously, both on the terminal building and on the external infrastructure. “As of Monday, the asphalting operation of an area of ​​over 20,000 square meters, representing the parking lot and access roads, began. First, the parking lot will be arranged, on an area of ​​more than 7,000 square meters. It was designed for a number of 276 places, of which 2 places are reserved for electric vehicles and are equipped with charging stations, and 8 places are intended for vehicles belonging to people with disabilities”, Cosmin Vasile announced on Facebook.

Access to the parking lot in front of the terminal will be achieved through two access points, directly from Calea București and from the ring road of Craiova, through a perimeter road and a roundabout set up within the airport. Access to this parking lot will be on two traffic lanes, both at the entrance and at the exit, restricted by means of control points equipped with barriers. The access road will branch into four traffic lanes, all one-way, near the entrance to the terminal building.

The new terminal of Craiova International Airport, part of the expansion and modernization project worth 115 million euros (with legal adjustments), has really taken shape. According to the work schedule, the over 30,000 m2 building that will house the new terminal will be ready this summer, along with the other 20 investments associated with the project. The new terminal will have a floor area of ​​over 30,000 square meters, building with basement, ground floor and two levels, and has been designed to be able to process around 2 million passengers annually.

The works are carried out by the association Construcții Erbașu SA (leader) – Grup Primacons SRL – Váhostav-SK, the financing being provided from European funds, from a loan contracted by RA Aeroportul Craiova and from the Dolj County Council. The project of almost 115 million euros also includes the new terminal and 20 other related investments (runways, equipment) that will increase the safety of the airport. Also within the project, a photovoltaic parkwhich will serve the future passenger terminal.
