The National Bank of Romania launched, on Monday, April 29, in the numismatic circuit, a silver coin and a copper tombac coin with the theme of 20 years since Romania’s accession to NATO.

The silver coin has a nominal value of 10 lei, a diameter of 37 millimeters and a weight of 31.103 grams, and the copper coin has a nominal value of 1 lei, a diameter of 37 millimeters and a weight of 23.5 grams. The obverse of the silver coin shows the Palace of Parliament, the place where Romania’s accession treaty to NATO was ratified, the circular arch inscription “ROMANIA”, the nominal value “10 LEI”, the coat of arms of Romania and the year of issue “2024”.

The obverse of the copper tombac coin shows the Palace of Parliament, the place where Romania’s accession treaty to NATO was ratified, the circular arch inscription “ROMANIA”, the nominal value “1 LEU”, the coat of arms of Romania and the year of issue “2024”.

The common reverse of the silver and copper tombac coins reproduces the NATO logo, the inscriptions “ADERARE ROMANIEI LA NATO” and “2004”, the year of Romania’s accession to NATO.

“Silver coins and copper tombac coins are packed in transparent methacrylate capsules and are accompanied by certificates of authenticity, drawn up in Romanian, English and French, on which the signatures of the governor of the BNR and the central cashier can be found.

The maximum circulation for the silver coin is 5,000 pieces, and for the copper tombac coin it is 5,000 pieces.

The selling price for the silver coin is 470.00 lei, exclusive of VAT, including the certificate of authenticity, and for the copper tombac coin is 170.00 lei, exclusive of VAT, including the certificate of authenticity”, a press release states press release sent, Monday, April 29, by Monica Ramona Comşa, specialist referent, Office of financial education, museum and communication, Regional Branch of BNR Constanţa.

Silver coins and copper tombac coins with the theme of 20 years since Romania’s accession to NATO have circulation power on the territory of Romania. The release of these coins into the numismatic circuit is carried out through the Bucharest, Cluj, Constanţa, Dolj, Iasi and Timiş regional branches of the National Bank of Romania.
