The German State Theater of Timișoara will go on tour in Germany with the show in June People. For salewritten and directed by Carmen Lidia Vidu.

For one week, from June 9-15, this production of the German State Theater Timisoara, which describes in a documentary manner the sale of ethnic Germans by the communist Romanian government, will be performed in Karlsruhe and Berlin. There will be three performances at the Badisches Staatstheater in Karlsruhe and the Heimathafen Neukölln in Berlin.

While the official propaganda warned of the “abyss” of the free world, in the Romanian space probably the largest human trafficking of the 20th century took place. People. For sale exposes the situation of trade with ethnic Germans from communist Romania, who between 1969-1989 were sold to the Federal Republic of Germany.

It is a show about the disappearance of a community, about the efforts that its members make to leave the hostile environment in which they live and about the demonization of their desire to dare to dream of their future in a free state and friendlier to its citizens. In the first confidential agreement concluded between the two countries in 1969, Security representatives negotiating on behalf of dictator Nicolae Ceaușescu were promised a reward for each member of the German minority who was allowed to leave. By the end of 1989, approximately 220,000 Germans had left the country. After the fall of communism followed the mass exodus of almost all ethnic Germans who still lived in Romania.
