President Klaus Iohannis discussed, on Monday, with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, the bilateral relationship and joint action, as NATO allies, of the two states.
“We had a substantial discussion today with Prime Minister Justin Trudeau, focusing on the further development of the dynamic Romanian-Canadian bilateral relationship and joint action as NATO allies. Looking ahead to the future NATO summit and the opportunity to obtain significant results”, Iohannis wrote on the X network, according to Agerpres.

The discussion takes place in the context in which Turkey decided to support the candidacy of Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte for the position of Secretary General of NATO.
Klaus Iohannis announced, almost two weeks ago, that he has no intention of giving up his candidacy for NATO leadership, saying that “very intense” discussions are taking place, which “are not made public”.
