PSD Prahova challenged baron Iulian Dumitrescu in court! nothing

PSD Prahova tried to block Baron Iulian Dumitrescu from running for the head of the County Council, but he was unsuccessful.

The Prahova county organization of the PSD decided to contest in court the decision of the County Electoral Bureau to accept the candidacy of the PNL Prahova president, Iulian Dumitrescu, to continue his mandate as president of the Prahova County Council (CJ). The main reason for the appeal was Dumitrescu’s legal situation, as he was indicted for corruption and had an ongoing ban on exercising his duties as president of CJ Prahova.

On Monday, the Prahova Court issued a decision rejecting the appeal, but the decision is not final, according to information provided by News.ro.

The file in which the PSD Prahova contested the candidacy of Iulian Dumitrescu for a new mandate as president of the Prahova County Council was registered at the Prahova Court on Saturday and was resolved in a meeting on the following working day. On Monday, the Court issued a ruling rejecting the appeal.

The judgment pronounced by the Prahova Court rejected the request to challenge the electoral law made by the PSD Prahova against Decision no. 42/26.04.2024 issued by the Electoral Office of County Circumscription no. 31 Prahova, considering it unfounded. In addition, the decision admitted the intervention of Iulian Dumitrescu in the process and upheld the decision of the Electoral Bureau of County Circumscription.

In accordance with Article 54 paragraph 4 of Law 115/2015, PSD Prahova has the right to appeal to the Ploiesti Court of Appeal within 24 hours of the ruling.

Despite his legal situation, Iulian Dumitrescu, indicted for corruption and banned from exercising the position of president of the Prahova County Council, last week submitted the signatures and the candidacy file for a second term at the head of CJ Prahova. He justified this decision by stating that he wants to contribute to improving the quality of life of the people of Prahoven and to show them respect.

Previously, the Electoral Office of County Constituency no. 31 Prahova accepted the candidacy proposal of Iulian Dumitrescu for a new mandate as head of the CJ, according to Law 115/2015, which regulates the elections of local public administration authorities.
