On Lazarus Saturday (April 27), the Feast of the Entry of the Savior Jesus Christ into Jerusalem was marked in Brasov by the pilgrimage of the faithful accompanied by an impressive council of priests from the city. At the Church in Piaţa Sfatului, prayers were read for the blessing of the faithful, for the sanctification of the icons and the willow branches to be carried on the streets by pilgrims. Then, with icons in their hands and willow branches, led by the church flags, the pilgrims stopped at the “St. Treime-Bariţiu” from where a beautiful group of pilgrims joined, at the “Andrei Şaguna” National College, where the pilgrims from the “St. Parascheva” from Groaveri, and continued towards Unirii Square and the church “St. Nicolae”, where the priests and believers from Şcheii Braşov were added. At the Church “St. Nicolae” the blessing service of the pillars that were taken by the pilgrims was held.

This year, the young Olympians participating in the National Religion Olympiad, which took place these days in Braşov, also took part in the pilgrimage.
“It is very important for us, Orthodox Christians. Now, we are waiting for the Resurrection of the Savior, and next week the days begin, the week of passions and the Resurrection of the Savior. We prepared with fasting and prayer”, a woman from Brasov testified. “Today is a very important day and I’m glad we managed to catch it here, in Brasov, because I’ve never been before,” said a young man. “Let people leave all their passions, pray more and have the wisdom that God will help them”, was the exhortation of another resident of Brasov.
The Saturday preceding the celebration of the Lord’s Entry into Jerusalem was the last day of the Holy Easter Fast in which public memorials were made for the sleeping ones.
