UDMR candidates for Oradea and Bihor have registered in the electoral race….

--

On Sunday, the representatives of UDMR Bihor submitted their candidate files for the County Council and for the Oradea City Hall and Local Council. “They are people with whom you can go a long way, they will not let you down”, praised the president of UDMR, Kelemen Hunor, who accompanied his party colleagues to the County Electoral Office and the Municipal Electoral Office.

The UDMR-ists went in procession, first to the BEJ, then to the BEM, and later the president of the Union, Kelemen Hunor, the leader of the Bihor organization, senator Cseke Attila, and deputy Biró Rozália, aspirant for the position of mayor of Oradea, held a conference of the press.

“We have submitted the lists, we have over 25,000 signatures for our candidates for the County Council and approximately 3,000 signatures for the candidates for mayor and Oradea Local Council”, declared Cseke. In total, in the local elections on June 9, UDMR Bihor will have candidates for 31 positions of mayors and for 50 local councils.

“I don’t want to be the head of the mayors”

Former Minister of Development between December 2020 – October 2021 in the Cîțu Government, and December 2021 to June 2023 in the Ciucă Government, Cseke Attila aims for the position of president of the Bihor County Council after, in 2012 and 2020, he unsuccessfully ran for a mandate of the mayor of the municipality of Oradea.

“We have this slogan, “Together we are Bihor”, and what we propose is to transform this county into a model in Romania. That is, to have implemented projects and innovations that make Bihor a benchmark for the other counties of the country. I am a man who, when we had the opportunity and the leverage, made big changes in very difficult systems. In 2010, we decentralized all the hospitals in the country, so that the local administrations could decide on the development of the special infrastructure, a decision whose beneficial effects are still visible today the mandate of the Minister of Development, was the first ministry in the Government to digitize all investment programs, we simplified the procedures for these programs, leaving this ministry in the first place, in terms of the implementation of the PNRR. These changes must also be continued at the level of Bihor county “Cseke said.

The electoral program for the position of president of CJ Bihor is structured in 7 chapters, the leader of UDMR Bihor also showed, who presented details of only the first one, with measures to improve all kinds of infrastructure in the rural area, to reduce the differences between villages and cities. “I don’t want to be the head of the mayors, I want to be a partner, to support them. And a first aspect is related to the relationship between the city and the village, a relationship that in my opinion should be one of friendship, not enmity”, he he said, giving as an example the need to complete the general urban plans of the localities in Bihor, “because without them there is no premise for a coordinated development”.

“Let Oradea be Great”

Deputy Biró Rozália (photo)the former vice-mayor of Oradea, and now the UDMR Bihor candidate for the position of mayor of the municipality, explained that she focused her electoral program on the people.

“A city has a future only when the inhabitants feel good and live well”, she said, explaining that she intends to develop programs to improve the quality of life of Oradea residents. “In the case of the elderly and people with disabilities, we must ensure them a dignified, active life, in Oradea there are not enough day care centers and there are no productive structures where these people can work”, explained the deputy.

For families with several children and single parents, the former deputy mayor plans to introduce new social cards, for secondary school students she proposes the introduction of periodic analysis packages subsidized by the local administration, while for high school students from the 14th grade, the Oradea City Hall could settle 50% of the cost of the driving school.

The UDMR Bihor candidate for the position of mayor of the municipality said that she also has projects to support local businesses and NGOs. “A healthy local patriotism can only be achieved by supporting the community. That’s the only way we can get from a city we call Oradea today to Oradea Mare”, Biró also pointed out.

On the list of candidates for the Bihor County Council, UDMR Bihor left the 4th and 10th places for the representatives of the Transylvanian Hungarian Alliance, respectively the Hungarian Civic Force Party, but they remained unoccupied for the time being. You can go a long way with these people, they will certainly not let you down,” said Hunor.

Kelemen Hunor also warned that 2024 is not a simple election year. “We are not voting for the next 4-5 years, but for half a century, because there are important projects in the next mandate, there will be essential changes both in Europe and in Romania, where we will have an administrative reform. A very difficult period is coming for Romania and we need reliable people”, said the UDMR leader.
