One of the oldest liberals from Alba Iulia, Voicu Paul switched to PSD. Voicu Paul was deputy mayor with mayor duties for a period at Alba Iulia City Hall.
He was also the Alba Iulia PNL candidate for mayor in 2020. Then he lost the elections to Gabriel Pleșa.
After losing the elections for the mayor’s chair, Voicu Paul was appointed head of APA CTTA Alba Iulia.
The announcement was made by PSD Alba Iulia candidate, Voicu Vușcan.

“It’s official, I’m a candidate for mayor! For Alba Iulia and for the people. I’ve said it since the first day I decided to take this step, I’m here to win! I’m here to bring the city back to a normalcy it’s lost in the last four years. Then we build and then we do things head on!

I want to welcome Paul Voicu’s decision to join the team and the project for Alba Iulia. I know, there will be one and another who will find themselves accusing, condemning, yelling at the top of their lungs that we’re pulling, that we’re a bully, that whatever.
But I know one thing, one that all the citizens of Alba Iulia know: Paul Voicu is one of the best administrators we have in the city! It’s an indisputable fact!
More than that, Paul Voicu is the guarantee that Alba Iulia City Hall will be run efficiently, that we will be able to make order in the current chaos and that we will be able to build a future.
I repeat, it is about the city, about the administration and about the future. I was made a communist by people whose existence always revolved around a salary from the state. They will make Paul Voicu a route manager.
They will accuse and paint us in the same way. We take this on. All of us in this wonderful team take it upon ourselves. Because we, like you, the people of this city, know that it’s not about functions, about synectics, about combinations and the like. It’s about the city we love, it’s about the place we call home, it’s about the future!” Vușcan wrote on Facebook.
