Today, the work of the International Ski Rescue Congress that took place between April 19 and 28, 2024 in the mountain resort of Riksgränsen in Sweden ended, an event where Salvamont Romania was present with a delegation of mountain rescuers from Gorj, Mureș and Argeș.

The event was organized by the International Federation of Ski Patrols (FIPS) which brings together 33 member countries and associated members from around the world and in which Salvamont Romania is a full member.

The congress was an opportunity for Romanian mountain rescuers to exchange experience with other mountain rescuers, with other national mountain rescue associations and on ski slopes or research institutes in this field. In addition to the interventions and practical demonstrations every day, the Romanian delegation presented the way of organizing the Salvamont structures, of initial and continuous professional training, the mountain rescue solutions based on high technology and artificial intelligence launched recently in partnership with Vodafone, as well as information about the National Center for Data Analysis, a unique project at European level.

Romania is appreciated by similar Salvamont organizations from other countries for its very good and comprehensive legislative framework regarding the performance of mountain rescue activities. It is also recognized for the solution of carrying out the activity in a mixed structure (employees and volunteers), for the professional training system, as well as as the first country in the European Union that managed to regulate this profession.

About 150 rescuers from 17 countries participated in this event.
