The Prahova County Committee for Emergency Situations asked the Prahova County Council, the Slanic City Hall, the National Salt Company SA – Salina Slanic Branch and an economic operator to make available, within 48 hours, the geotechnical and geological studies carried out within the radius of the Slanic locality , so that they can be sent to the competent bodies, in order to find a solution following the collapse of the 23 August street in this city.

“Following the meeting of the Prahova County Committee for Emergency Situations on April 27, 2024, chaired by prefect Emil Draganescu, regarding the land subsidence event and the appearance of cracks on 23 August Street in Slanic, the public authorities and economic operators in the area (the Council Prahova County, Slanic City Hall, National Salt Company SA – Salina Slanic Branch and an economic operator), to make available within 48 hours the geotechnical and geological studies carried out within the area of ​​Slanic, in order to transmit them to the specialized institutions and bodies ability”, announced on Saturday evening, Prahova Prefecture, according to Prahova observatory.

The Prahova County Council was requested to provide such documents in the conditions that, recently, the institution carried out a project to introduce, in the town of Slanic, a natural gas supply network, which, however, is not functional.

On the other hand, the National Salt Society SA was requested to provide documents in the context that in Slanic this company has a salt mine where it is exploited, but also a salt mine open to visitors. The Slanic salt mine, called Mina Unirea, is located 208 meters underground, was opened to the public in the 1970s and has an area of ​​53,000 square meters.

At the same time, the County Committee for Emergency Situations Prahova asked the Local Committee for Emergency Situations Slanic to take new measures for the safety of the population and goods in the area.

These measures are necessary to establish the causes that determined this phenomenon, as well as to determine the evolution of this subsidence in the following period.

The Prahova Prefect’s institution previously announced on Saturday, April 27, according to the newspaper Telegram and that “following the measurements carried out by the certified operator, it was found that there are no differences in terms of land subsidence compared to the previous measurements. Monitoring and measurements will continue.”

On Thursday morning, a portion of 23 August street in Slanic, Prahova, collapsed, forming a two-meter crater, on Friday, another 20 centimeters of ground subsidence was observed. Following the event, 42 people who lived in two blocks in the area were evacuated as a precaution.
