There is an investigation in Gorj after a four-year-old child was taken out of Romania by a German citizen, with the help of a fake power of attorney. There is also talk of possible bribes that would have been given to the institutions in the country and the customs through which the minor was removed. The victim has two brothers in the social protection system in Gorj.

The case was commented by the Minister of the Family, Natalia Intotero, who gave assurances “on behalf of the Romanian state that that child will have to go home”.

Asked how such a thing was possible, Natalia Intotero said: “No matter how much pressure there is from the respective citizen, the foreign citizen, on the authorities in Romania, yes, I can confirm that it is terrible what happened and I can assure you the part of the Romanian state that that child will have to go home. We are already taking all the steps and there is a file instrumented by DIICOT, and I want to congratulate them for their professionalism, devotion and involvement, equally”.

“Also, DGASCP Gorj notified DIICOT. Today, being with the caravan for the prevention of drug consumption, other forms of addiction, violence, bullying, in Târgu Jiu, during this morning, together with the director of DGASPC Gorj, but also with psychologists from the institution, I went and visited the brothers to the child who is now in Germany. I made sure they were well taken care of. I actually spent quite a long time talking with the foster assistants, but also with the two younger brothers,” added the Minister of the Family.

Update:

The child is, in fact, 6 years old, claims DGASPC Gorj who also provided some information related to the case. The situation of the minor came to the attention of the institution as a result of the address submitted by the National Authority for the Protection of Children’s Rights and Adoption.

The representatives of DGASPC Gorj went to the family home together with the representatives of the local authority to assess the family’s situation and it was found that the minor in question was not at home. There were also two minors there, who were taken and placed under the protection of the institution, under the care of professional foster carers.

The two children were visited by the director Laurentiu Diaconescu and the Minister of the Family, Natalia Intotero. They follow a psychological counseling program.
