“The sky fell on me”

Chef Orlando Zaharia lost his golden knife in the Tuesday, May 7, edition of Chefi la cucitte. Alexandru Săbădeanu was eliminated shortly before the semi-finals. The competition has become intense for both the contestants and the three chefs, who compete in amulets in an attempt to reach as many contestants as possible in the semi-final and final.

Orlando Zaharia and Alexandru Sautner fought in amulets

Alexandru Sautner and Orlando Zaharia decided to use two of their most powerful charms of the season, so the red button was pressed not once, but twice in the May 7 edition of Chefi la cucitte.

After finding out the theme and tasters of the battle eight, Chef Sautner decided to use an amulet.

“Not even 30 seconds have passed since I heard that noise!”, was the reaction of chef Richard Abou Zaki.

“You didn’t even wait a minute?!”, said Orlando Zaharia.

“Only here I have an advantage. Here I can use it! There are only two more battles, I can’t risk it, I can’t wait any longer! I have to use all my arsenal, there are only four of us. So I tried to use this amulet. (…) They expected me to give it later. No, guys! That was my strategy”, replied chef Alexandru Sautner.

He used the amulet which gives him the power to force the contestants of the other teams to wear oven mitts for 30 minutes of an event, except for one contestant per team of his choosing.

“Let’s start with energy. From the green team without gloves will be Cabbage. Arun from the pink team will cook without gloves”, announced chef Alexandru Sautner.

In the last 30 minutes of the test, chef Orlando Zaharia also pressed the red button in an attempt to help his team. Thus, he received the help of Ștefan Popescu for half of the test.

“I feel the need to work with Stefan today! I have an amulet that says this: Use the services of the chef who has no team. He can be your spy, he can taste all the prepared dishes from the opposing teams. Plus, it can taste and touch the ingredients your team is working with. Is that clear?”, highlighted Orlando Zaharia excitedly.

“I realized that we have nothing ready, the fish is not in the oven. I felt the need to bring Stefan. He can’t cook, but at least he can taste and see textures!”, chef Orlando Zaharia also supported his choice.

Alexandru Săbădeanu, eliminated from Chefi at the knife

All three teams reached the duel, after the battle ended with a tie between the pink and yellow teams. Thus, Alexandru Sautner and Richard Abou Zaki had to send half the team to the duel, while Orlando Zaharia’s team entered the full formula for the eliminatory test.

The last three competitors who remained in front of the jurors were Varză, Alexandru Săbădeanu and Mario Mădălin Dumitru. To everyone’s surprise, Cabbage returned to the kitchen with 11 points, while Mario received 10 points, and Orlando Zaharia’s golden knife went home with 8 points.

“The sky has fallen on me, honestly! I didn’t expect something like this,” said chef Zaharia when he heard the verdict.

“An uncooked duck is fatal! She was cruel, man! Huge mistake that you can’t get over. If you feel sorry, do you think I don’t?! I can say that it’s the best dish you’ve made…”, added chef Orlando Zaharia.

“I’m sorry to disappoint you! I didn’t step out of my comfort zone and I got stuck! I couldn’t work the way I work at the restaurant”, Alexandru Săbădeanu reacted.

“Come on, little one! You killed me! I’m thinking of you, but also of us! I’m dying of spite! What will my team think when they find out that the golden knife is gone?! I’m sorry, Alex!”, chef Orlando Zaharia also confessed.
