Oradea City Hall wants to build a 3.5-kilometer connecting road between Ogorului Street and Calea Clujului, through the Nufărul and Velenţa neighborhoods.

“No houses will be affected”

On Thursday, the City Council approved the feasibility study of the future access road, with two traffic lanes and a bridge over Peţa, which will ensure the connection between the city’s ring road, in the area of the future road connecting Sânmartin commune, and the shore of Crişului Repede, in the vicinity of the CFR bridge near the Silvaş area.

As announced Bihor since last year, the road will start from Ogorului street, along the route formed by Iancu de Hunedoara, Depozitului, Războieni and Căii Ferate streets to finally reach Calea Clujului.

It will cross streets such as Șiglarilor, Tăbăcarilor and Timotei Cipariu, on which it will have ramifications (photo below).

New expropriations in Oradea

As part of the documentation, the expropriation corridor necessary for the execution of the works, spread over an area of 47,000 square meters, was also approved. Among them, about 15,000 square meters of land are owned by private owners.

The investment is estimated at 53.5 million lei, and its feasibility study was approved by the vote of the local liberal councilors. UDMR and PSD representatives opposed.

The local councilors of the opposition were not impressed by the intervention of the mayor Florin Birta, who promised that no house would be demolished for the construction of the new access road.

“The road will pass through an area where the old road is now and through an area where there are no access roads. Certain lands will be purchased or expropriated for its construction, but houses will not be affected”, the mayor promised Florin Birta.

The works are being prepared

The new connecting road will have a length of 3.5 kilometers, and for its realization the municipality will rehabilitate 2.1 kilometers of the existing road and arrange 1.4 kilometers of new street.

The road, with one lane in each direction, equipped with sidewalks and a bicycle path, will cross the Peţa stream in the area of the street with the same name on a bridge with a length of 16 meters.

Once the feasibility study of the investment is approved, the municipality will take steps to take possession of the entire road site and will auction its execution.

“After we have your vote, the colleagues from the Technical Directorate will auction the design and construction works of the future road. During the next year, we should start the works”, said mayor Florin Birta.

According to the approved documentation, the deadline for the completion of the works will be 22 months.
