Dozens of visitors stormed the Easter Fair in Sibiu. “I think it’s the most beautiful fair ever” (photo, video)

Sibiu and tourists stormed the Easter Market, opened on Friday in Sibiu. The weather was on the traders’ side, dozens of people arriving at the Easter Market from the first day. The fair is animated by 50 boxes of sweets, Easter decorations, painted eggs, handmade jewelry, books and cards, toys, pottery, handmade paintings with macrame dolls.

The Easter Fair opened its doors and visitors rushed to see what surprises it had in store for this year. In addition to the Easter decorations, the boxes with sweets were in great demand, especially by the little ones. Just like last year, the trampoline was the main attraction for the children. Neither the inflatable slide nor the go-kart track went unnoticed by the little ones. “I liked it the most on the trampoline. I want to come again tomorrow and go down the slide”, said Vlad, one of the children who came to the Easter Fair in Sibiu.

Macrame doll paintings, the attraction of the fair

This year, many traders came from other areas of the country. Loredana, who just came from Târgu Jiu, attracted the attention of visitors with her paintings of macrame dolls. The unique painting titled “The Tourist” was the most appreciated and the best seller. Târgujianca considers the Easter Fair in Sibiu to be one of the most beautiful it has participated in so far.

“I came up with paintings made of macrame dolls. We are in Sibiu for the first time. In 2022 we started for a little girl’s project for school, after which we started to make small dolls that we thought to put in paintings, to give them a little life. They are my creation, as I thought of them. We can also make them to order according to the customer’s photo. The Sibians were very receptive. I think it’s the most beautiful fair ever. I have also been to Cluj, Bucharest and Brașov. Prices start at 150 lei with a doll on the painting, up to 250 lei with families and natural lichens. “The Tourist” was the most requested painting to date. They are unique, we don’t have two alike”, said Loredana Gavriliu.

Pistachio Cream Cottage for Easter Muffins

Housewives are also expected in the Easter Fair in Sibiu because they will find the most delicious pistachio and almond cream. Alex and Laurențiu came precisely from Cluj to show their small business to the people of Sibiu. The curious can taste the creams, ideal for later making some “different” cakes.

“We came to know this kind of events. It’s an opportunity because I think the Easter Market brings a lot of people. We didn’t set high expectations, we are curious to see what will happen. Pistachio cream is very well known and we have good sales online, but we wanted to be physically present as well. Pistachio cream can be used for scones, donuts or pancakes. We tested it and I really recommend it. People ask, taste, buy. For the first day, it is very good and the weather also helps us”, said Laurentiu.

“Our mission is to bring the taste of Italy to Romania as well. People are really excited,” Alex said.

Easter decorations for charitable causes

This year, the Easter Fair supports two social causes, offering them two boxes. One will be dedicated to DGASPC, and another will host representatives from Ukraine, who will present seasonal products and activities.

“It’s the first time I’ve come to the Easter Market and I hope it’s a good omen. People are interested, they have bought more. We expect to have as many customers as possible by tonight. We sell from baskets, door wreaths, greeting cards, eggs to hang on the tree, handmade bunnies. All this was done by the beneficiaries under the guidance of the instructors and employees. The prices are symbolic, how much the person wants to give”, said Claudia, occupational therapy instructor at the Center for Empowerment and Rehabilitation for Adults with Disabilities “St. Nectaria” Mediaș.

In another small house there are olive wood objects from Bethlehem and Jerusalem. In addition to other items related to Easter, there were also trinkets, fridge magnets with Sibiu, personalized mugs and other toys in bright colors.

As every year, visitors have the opportunity to try the traditional delicacies brought by the exhibitors such as scones, cakes, artisanal ice cream, juices, syrups and various traditional Easter baskets.

Prices for all budgets

Prices are for all budgets this year. In the food category, one hundred grams of homemade chocolate costs 9 lei, the Albinita cake costs 10 lei, a homemade bar can be bought for 9 lei and the biscuit salami for 7 lei for one hundred grams. A 600 gram jar of pistachio cream costs 99 lei. Prices for candles for decorating the Easter table start from 50 lei.

For 5 minutes in the inflatable slide, parents must pay 15 lei. Also for children, parents can purchase interactive books with toys. They have prices depending on how complex they are, and their prices start from 15 lei and can reach 95 lei. The eggs to symbolically put in the tree cost between 15 and 30 lei.

The Easter Fair in Sibiu runs from April 26 to May 7 and will be open daily between 11:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m.
