A new wave of torrential rains and hailstorms hit several counties in the east of the country today, Monday – May 6. The nowcasting weather alerts announced from around noon that the counties of Botoșani, Iași and Suceava will be the most affected.
The intensity of today’s weather phenomena was similar to that in Prahova or Dâmbovița on the first day of Easter. For example, in Fălticeni and Dolhasca, Suceava county, the locals collected the hail with brooms and shovels this afternoon. The amount of ice that fell in a very short time was very large, affecting mostly vegetable crops and fruit trees.
Flood alert in several counties
The National Institute of Hydrology and Water Management (INHGA) has issued yellow flood warnings, valid until Monday evening, on rivers in the counties of Buzau, Vrancea, Neamţ, Bacău, Covasna and Suceava.
Thus, until 8:00 p.m., as a result of the precipitation and propagation, important leaks may occur on slopes, torrents, streams, rapid floods on small rivers with possible local flooding effects, increases in flows and levels, with possible overflows of Attention Ratings, on the rivers in the Râmnicu Sărat hydrographic basin – upstream basin SH Tulburea, related to the counties of Buzău and Vrancea.
Until 21:00, there may be similar phenomena on the rivers of the Tazlău hydrographic basin – upstream basin SH Helegiu, from Neamţ and Bacău counties. There is also danger on some small rivers in the Tazlăul Sărat basin.
Hydrologists also warn that, until 22:00, floods may occur on the rivers in the Buzău hydrographic basin – the left tributaries related to the downstream sector of SH Sita Buzăului, from Covasna and Buzău counties.
At the same time, there is a higher probability of dangerous phenomena on some rivers in the hydrographic basins Slănic – upper basin, Sărătel – upper basin.
INHGA also issued a yellow code for local floods, increases in flows and levels with possible exceedances of Attention Quotas on the rivers in the Moldova hydrographic basin – the tributaries related to the downstream sector of SH Gura Humorului, Suceava and Neamţ counties. This is still valid until Monday, 22.00.
