Internships in companies, institutions and NGOs, in June, for French students finishing their first year of high school, for a first experience in relation to the labor market

French first-year high school students will participate, at the end of this school year, in two-week internships at various employers – companies, public institutions, non-governmental organizations, etc. – as part of a program aimed at making them better acquainted with the world in which they will work, according to a presentation of this project, made on the European Eurydice platform.

The internship program is open to all students in the first phase of upper secondary education, general or technological, The internships will take place, for all, in the second half of June 2024.

What does this project entail, developed in the latter part of last year?

Schools must sign an agreement with employers, and internship offers were to be published on an online platform by the end of March.

• Hosts can be companies, associations, governmental or public administration institutions, local authorities. The program is addressed to all students finishing their first year of high school, with some exceptions, such as students participating in mobilities or training trips, students in vocational education related to fields such as the hospitality industry, etc.

In order to be able to organize the activities, a dedicated office was established in the educational units, a single point of contact for partners in the labor market. These offices have five objectives: to support teachers and instructors in the relationship with the business environment, to establish joint initiatives school-local players-business environment, to ensure the placement of students in internships or related activities, to develop an alumni network, to monitor career paths and the integration of each trained student within the school.
