The “Buna Vestire” Orthodox Church in Târgu Mureș, the Little Cathedral as it is known to the people of Târgu Mureș, was decorated with an impressive 3.7 meter diameter candelabrum and adorned with a royal crown. It was made in Russia, in the city of Yaroslavl, and was purchased from the donations of believers collected over two months.
The parish priest Călin Şipoș, the one who saw to it that this project was carried out, says that in this church no kind of chandelier could be installed, but a work of art was needed, just like the church itself. Also during this period, the entrance to the church was decorated with paintings, the former candlestick being moved to an annex of the church, with access from the inside.
The Little Cathedral is preparing for the consecration, an event that will take place on May 12, on St. Thomas Sunday. And which will be attended by the Metropolitan of Transylvania, ÎPS Dr. Laurentiu Streza, , ÎPS Dr. Irineu Pop, Archbishop of Alba Iulia, PS Andrei Moldovan, Bishop of Covasna and Harghita.
